World Youth Day 2027 Dates: Official Schedule & Key Events

When is World Youth Day 2027? Officially, World Youth Day will be Tuesday, August 3 to Sunday, August 8, 2027. But we have other things planned! Read on!

Did you know? World Youth Day is much more than a day! Since the first World Youth Day in Rome and the first International event in Buenos Aires in 1987, the event has grown to a six-day celebration. Traditionally, the schedule is follows:

  • Tuesday: WYD opens with Mass celebrated by the Archbishop of the host diocese.
  • Wednesday-Friday: We spend our mornings in catechesis sessions (grouped by language), often led by a Cardinal or Bishop. The afternoons and other free time throughout the days are filled attending concerts, plays, special presentations, and other activities. There might be the opportunity to venerate a unique relic, listen to a talk from a world-renowned evangelist, or participate in a cultural event!
  • Thursday evening: The Pope arrives! We welcome him with a special ceremony.
  • Friday evening: The Holy Father prays the Way of the Cross with us. It is moving time of prayer that is often influenced by the host country’s culture and history and current events.
  • span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Saturday: Some consider this the climax of WYD! This evening, the Pope joins everyone out at the Vigil site for Eucharistic Adoration.
  • Sunday: The Pope returns to the Vigil Site to celebrate the Closing Mass of WYD with us. The location of the next WYD will be announced at the end of Mass!

So much awaits us in Korea! In addition to these incredible events, Verso has put together several optional extensions to some of the most important shrines in Korea. Whether its going to Chon Jin Am to see where the Catholic Church was born in South Korea or pilgrimaging to the tomb of St. Andrew Kim Taegon at the Mirinae Shrine, Verso has planned several amazing opportunities for those wanting to see more of beautiful South Korea.

Don’t miss the opportunity to experience World Youth Day for yourself, connect with youth from around the globe, and see the Pope!
