Group Leader/ Chaplain
Deacon Dave Reaves
Hampton, Virginia
Deacon Dave Reaves is a convert to the Catholic faith in 1995 and was ordained a Deacon in 2018. He has been married for 37 years to his wife, Debbie. In 2015, the Lord placed on his heart to have a retreat center that would provide an affordable place for people to go and spend time with Jesus. Five years later, this came to fruition only through the power and grace of God as He brought all things together in 2020 with the renovation of an existing building that is now called the Saint Clare of Assisi Retreat Center – fully volunteer and donation only facility. He currently serves as a Deacon at the Peninsula Cluster parishes in Hampton, Virginia and the Director of Permanent Diaconate Formation.
Group Leader/ Chaplain
Monsignor Walter Barrett, Jr.
Hampton, Virginia
Monsignor Walter Barrett, Jr. is a retired priest of the Diocese of Richmond. A priest for over 50 years, Msgr. Barrett’s first assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Norfolk. Years later, with the encouragement of Bishop Sullivan, he petitioned Pope John Paul II to designate St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception a minor basilica. Msgr. Barrett has served at Holy Rosary, Richmond; St. Gerard, Roanoke; St. Joseph, Hampton; and St. Mary Star of the Sea, Fort Monroe. After he retired, he served as the interim director for the diocesan Office for Black Catholics.
