Join Companions of Christ and Verso Ministries on a pilgrimage to Italy and be transformed by the beauty and universality of the Catholic Church during this historic Holy Year. This handcrafted journey invites you into a prayerful, authentic, and joyful encounter with the centuries-old practice of Jubilee pilgrimages. Visit the major basilicas and churches of Rome, Assisi, and Orvieto, enter through the Holy Doors, and embrace the Holy Father’s call to be pilgrims of hope.

Arrive in at Rome Fiumicino Airport and transfer to hotel
Welcome Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major, which holds a relic of the manger, with an opportunity to walk through the Holy Door
Welcome Dinner in a local restaurant
Overnight in Rome

Day 3: Papal Audience, City Center

November 12, 2025

Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square (pending the Holy Father’s schedule)
Lunch in a local restaurant
Afternoon walking pilgrimage to explore center city churches and sites, such as the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Chiesa Nuova, San Luigi dei Francesi, Sant’Agostino, the Gesù, Santi Apostoli, and more
Mass at Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, where the tomb of St. Catherine of Siena is
Free evening to explore the city on your own
Overnight in Rome

Day 4: St. John Laterna, Santa Croce, San Clemente

Visit to the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme to see and pray with the relics from Christ’s Passion
Pray on the Holy Stairs that Christ climbed on his way to his trial, brought to Rome from Jerusalem by St. Helena
Mass at the Papal Basilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome and where a relic of the table of the Last Supper is held
Group lunch in a local restaurant
Tour of the Basilica of San Clemente, run by the Irish Dominicans, including the ancient excavations beneath the modern church
Walk towards the Coliseum and Roman Forum for external views of the ancient Roman sites
Free evening to explore Rome and dinner on your own
Overnight in Rome

Day 5: St. Peter's and Vatican City

November 14, 2025

Mass in the Crypt at St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by a tour of the Basilica (including the tomb of Pope St. John Paul II), time for personal prayer, and an opportunity to walk through the Holy Door
Free time for lunch and exploring Vatican City
Scavi Tour underneath St. Peter’s Basilica, with the opportunity to pray at the tomb of St. Peter (pending availability)
Dinner in a local restaurant
Overnight in Rome

Day 6: Catacombs, St. Paul Outside the Walls

November 15, 2025

Mass at the Catacombs of St. Callixtus, followed by a tour of the catacombs
Visit to St. Paul Outside the Walls, with the opportunity to walk through the Holy Door
Free evening to explore Rome and enjoy dinner on your own
Overnight in Rome

Day 7: Vatican Museums, St. Mary of the Angels

Morning entrance to the Vatican Museums
After lunch on your own, depart by bus for Assisi
Visit to St. Mary of the Angels and the Porziuncola, with Mass

Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis
Guided tour of the Old City of Assisi, including the Basilica of St. Francis and Basilica of St. Clare
Group lunch in a local restaurant
Free afternoon in Assisi to explore the peaceful medieval town and visit Santa Maria Maggiore and the tomb of Bl. Carlo Acutis, San Damiano Monastery, the Cathedral of San Rufino, Chiesa Nuova, or the fortress of Rocca Maggiore
Dinner on your own
Overnight in Assisi

Day 9: Orvieto, Farewell Dinner

Depart Assisi for Orvieto, and visit the Church of San Domenico, where St. Thomas Aquinas lived from 1263-1264
Celebrate Mass at the Duomo in Orvieto, the majestic Basilica housing the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena, which was the inspiration for Thomas Aquinas’s Eucharistic hymns
Conclude the pilgrimage with a Farewell Dinner
Overnight in Rome near the Airport

Deposit due upon registration: $500 per person
Final balance due 120 days prior to departure: Final balance

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations of individual pilgrims must be made in writing (email or letter) to Verso Ministries. Cancellations are possible at any time, but refunds are subject to cancellation fees at the rates listed here. Cancellation fees are for individual pilgrims. Any cancellation charges incurred from other suppliers or vendors (flight, lodging, ground transportation, tickets, etc.) may come in addition to the administrative fees listed here. All group flight airline tickets, optional excursions, trip options, pre/post extensions, private transfers, and additional hotel nights are non-refundable 100 days or less prior to departure unless otherwise noted. We highly recommend the purchase of individual travel insurance.

14 days after deposit & 91 days or more from departure: Deposit is retained
90-61 days prior to departure: 25% of trip cost is non-refundable
60-31 days prior to departure: 50% of trip cost is non-refundable

Who would I be traveling with on pilgrimage?

If a pilgrimage is open to all, registration is open to any pilgrim wishing to participate. As such, our groups welcome a diverse range of pilgrims, from families and married couples to single travellers and retired adults, giving you the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

What risks are involved with pilgrimage?

As with any travel, particularly international, it is important to be aware of your surroundings. We monitor travel conditions for the countries our groups visit, and our on-location partners keep us informed of potentially disruptive events, situations, and conditions that might affect travel. If travel to the country is not recommended by the U.S. and/or local authorities, we handle the particulars on a case-by-case basis and update our pilgrims accordingly. To mitigate risk, we encourage all of our pilgrims to purchase travel protection to minimize losses from unforeseen causes, such as travel delays or cancellations and lost baggage.

Why should I register now?

The sooner you register for the pilgrimage, the better! Pilgrimages can fill up quickly, especially if pilgrims decide to bulk register as a group, so registering as soon as you think you will be able to travel with us guarantees you a spot on open pilgrimages. If you register and find out you can no longer attend, as long as you registered more than 180 days prior to the departure and cancel within 14-days of registering, we will fully refund your deposit. Just send us a written confirmation of your cancellation and we will take care of the rest.
