Trip Overview

Generations of pilgrims have traveled the Camino de Santiago, listening to God’s voice amid the Spanish countryside. They have walked through small towns, shared the journey with other pilgrims and reflected on their lives as they log mile after mile. That same opportunity is waiting for you as a retreat from the pressures of modern life, a chance to become grounded in the earth around you, and a path of self-discovery. This walking pilgrimage, hosted by Verso Ministries, will take place in the Jacobean Holy Year. It begins in Sarria and concludes in Santiago on the Feast Day of St. James. Each day will include 10-15 miles of hiking.

Led by

Group Leader
Deacon John Hosier
Indianapolis, IN
Deacon John Hosier has been serving Nativity Parish Indianapolis since 2017. To celebrate his 10 th Year Ordination as a Deacon and his 70 th Birthday, he reached out to Verso Pilgrimage to complete his dream of walking the El Camino. John and his wife Ada are part of the Evangelization Team at Nativity. Through conversation with Verso, it became clear that he was called to lead the trip by inviting Pilgrims on this journey within and outside the Parish. Scripture states we are called to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. John believes that by challenging ourselves physically we can grow closer to God spiritually. John is currently serving as a Spiritual Director and believes this charisma will serve him well on the pilgrimage.
Group Leader
Ada Hosier
Indianapolis, IN
Ada has been married to Deacon John for 45 years. The couple have been blessed to have three children, along with their spouses and four grandchildren. Often Ada and John have often engaged in Jesus’s teaching of going two by two leading ministries together, pulling on each other’s strengths. In her career Ada is Mental Health Therapist who is an extrovert and brings high energy into all that she does. Recently John and Ada were called to be Oblates through Our Lady of Grace Monastery. The call is to seek God in everyone, everything and every day of your life. She believes this will be the cornerstone of her pilgrimage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I travel with Verso Ministries?

At Verso, we believe in crafting pilgrimages that offer you a view of God’s world and his work in it that you can’t get anywhere else.    We believe that everything – from the holy sites, to the meals, to daily Mass, to your fellow pilgrims – shape the ways God can speak to you, which means we’re intentional about it all.  We believe a pilgrimage isn’t just the days you travel, but it’s how you prepare – from the moment you sign up, to the days and weeks after you arrive home. We shepherd you through the entire process so you can achieve the most transformative experience possible.  We’re not just travel experts; we’re experts in Catholic pilgrimage.

Why should I register now?

The sooner you register for the pilgrimage, the better! Pilgrimages can fill up quickly, especially if pilgrims decide to bulk register as a group, so registering as soon as you think you will be able to travel with us guarantees you a spot on open pilgrimages. If you register and find out you can no longer attend, as long as you registered more than 180 days prior to the departure and cancel within 14-days of registering, we will fully refund your deposit. Just send us a written confirmation of your cancellation and we will take care of the rest.

What risks are involved with pilgrimage?

As with any travel, particularly international, it is important to be aware of your surroundings. We monitor travel conditions for the countries our groups visit, and our on-location partners keep us informed of potentially disruptive events, situations, and conditions that might affect travel. If travel to the country is not recommended by the U.S. and/or local authorities, we handle the particulars on a case-by-case basis and update our pilgrims accordingly. To mitigate risk, we encourage all of our pilgrims to purchase travel protection to minimize losses from unforeseen causes, such as travel delays or cancellations and lost baggage.
