Trip Overview

Join Sing the Hours and Verso Ministries on pilgrimage to the heart of the Church. Pray the Divine Office in song together each day as you traverse the churches and neighborhoods of the Eternal City, encountering majestic basilicas, inspiring saints, and rich history along the way. This pilgrimage is an opportunity to not only visit some of the holiest sites in our faith, but to participate prayerfully in the Liturgy of the Hours, enjoy the best of Italian cuisine and culture, and return home invigorated by this experience of communal prayer. All are welcome. No prior singing experience is required.

  • Pilgrims depart from U.S. on overnight flight to Europe

  • Arrive in Rome
  • Transfer to the hotel and check-in
    • Pilgrims will transfer themselves to the hotel by taxi or public transportation.
  • Bus transfer to Basilica di Sant’Antonio al Laterano, where there is a Chapel of St Elizabeth of Hungary whose feast is today
    • 5pm: Mass & Evening Prayer
  • Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant
  • 9pm: Night Prayer in hotel chapel
  • Overnight in Rome

November 18, 2025
  • Bus transfer to St Paul Outside the Walls, one of the four major basilicas and the final resting place of St Paul
    • 7:30am: entrance to the Holy Door, with Morning Prayer
    • 8am: Mass and time to explore the Basilica and its grounds
    • 9am: Midmorning Prayer in the thirteenth-century Cloisters
  • Bus transfer to the Vatican and stop for an early lunch
  • Visit St Peter’s Basilica
    • Noon: entrance to the Holy Door, with Midday Prayer
  • Time to explore St Peter’s Basilica – see Michelangelo’s “Pieta” and pray at the tomb of St John Paul II
  • Gather in St Peter’s Square
    • 4pm: Midafternoon Prayer
  • Walk to Santa Maria del Rosario, a modern church under the care of Dominicans
    • 5pm: Evening Prayer
  • Free time to explore the city, with dinner on your own
  • 9pm: Night Prayer in hotel chapel
  • Overnight in Rome

  • Bus transfer to the Basilica of St Lawrence Outside the Walls, where the martyrs Sts Lawrence and Stephen are buried
    • 7am: Mass & Morning Prayer
  • Bus transfer to the Basilica dei Santi Quattro Coronati, attached to a monastery of Augustinian nuns
    • 9am: Midmorning Prayer
  • Bus transfer to St John Lateran, one of the four major basilicas and the cathedral of the diocese of Rome
    • Noon: entrance to the Holy Door, with Midday Prayer
  • Group lunch at a local restaurant
  • Gather at the Lateran Baptistery, Rome’s first baptistery
    • 3pm: Midafternoon Prayer
  • Silent prayer at the Sancta Sanctorum, the original private papal chapel now open to the public who wish to climb in prayerful silence the Scala Santa, the Holy Stairs climbed by Christ in the palace of Pontius Pilate during the Passion, brought from the Holy Land by St Helena
  • Visit the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and venerate the Passion relics, which include fragments of the cross, a nail, and two thorns
    • 5.30pm: Evening Prayer
  • Dinner on your own
  • 9pm: Night Prayer in hotel chapel
  • Overnight in Rome

  • Visit Santa Maria sopra Minerva, a Dominican basilica housing the tombs of St Catherine of Siena and Fra Angelico as well as Michelangelo’s “Risen Christ”
    • 7.30am: Mass & Morning Prayer (pending)
  • Explore the piazzas and churches of Rome in a city center walking tour
  • Stops can include Piazza Navone, Sant’Agnese in Agone, San Luigi dei Francesi, Sant’Agostino, Santi Apostoli, Sant’Ignazio, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon
    • Midmorning and Midday Prayer at selected churches along the way, for example the Gesu and Santa Maria in Vallicella (the Chiesa Nuova)
  • Free time for lunch
  • Continue exploring the city center, praying Midafternoon and Evening Prayer at selected churches along the way, for example San Silvestro in Capite or the Angelicum (pending)
  • Dinner on your own
  • 9pm: Night Prayer in hotel chapel

  • Bus transfer to Santa Maria dei Miracoli
    • 7am: Morning Prayer
  • Walk through Piazza del Popolo to Santa Maria del Popolo, a basilica restored by Bernini in the 17th century with works by Caravaggio and Raphael
    • 8.30am: Midmorning Prayer
  • Walk through the Borghese Gardens to the Spanish Steps
  • Visit Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, the site of the only Marian apparition in Rome
    • Noon: Midday Prayer
  • Free time for lunch and exploring the Piazza di Spagna area
  • 2:30pm: Gather at Trinita dei Monti at the top of the Spanish Steps to begin the Rosary Walk with Midafternoon Prayer, finishing at the Church of Sant’Alfonso Maria de’Liguori to pray before the original icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help
  • Walk over to St Mary Major, one of the four major basilicas and the oldest Marian shrine in the West
    • 4pm: entrance to the Holy Door
    • 5pm: Mass followed by Evening Prayer
  • Dinner on your own
  • 9pm: Night Prayer in hotel chapel
  • Overnight in Rome

  • Bus transfer to Santa Sabina, the mother church of the Dominican order
    • 7:15am: Morning Prayer with the Dominican friars, followed by Mass
  • Tour of the monastery to see the cell of St Dominic and Pius V (pending)
    • 9am: Midmorning Prayer
  • Walk down the Aventine Hill, past the Circus Maximus, along the Tiber River to reach San Bartolomeo all’Isola, a basilica on Tiber Island housing the relics of St Bartholomew the Apostle
    • Noon: Midday Prayer
  • Go over into Trastevere for lunch on your own and time to explore
  • Visit San Benedetto in Piscinula, dedicated to St Benedict and run by Benedictines in the Middle Ages, it is one of Rome’s smallest churches with the oldest bell still in use in Rome
    • 4.30pm: Midafternoon Prayer
  • Walk over to Santa Cecilia in Trastevere, built on the site of the family home of St Cecilia where she was martyred and now where she is buried. Explore the excavations underneath the Basilica.
    • 5.30pm: Evening Prayer
  • Group dinner at a local restaurant
  • Visit Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of Rome’s oldest churches, dating back to the third century, believed to be the first official place of Christian worship in Rome
    • 7.30pm: Night Prayer
  • Overnight in Rome

  • Bus transfer to San Clemente, a basilica dedicated to St Clement of Rome and run by Irish Dominicans
    • Mass & Morning Prayer (pending)
  • Tour of the excavations beneath the Basilica, with finds dating back to the 1st century
    • 9am: Midmorning Prayer in the Basilica
  • Walk to San Pietro in Vincoli where you will find the chains used to bind St Peter in his imprisonment, as well as Michelangelo’s “Moses”
    • 11:30am: Midday Prayer
  • Free time for lunch on your own
  • Explore Ancient Rome
    • See the Arch of Constantine and the Colosseum and follow the Via dei Fori Imperiali – a street lined with statues of Roman emperors, including Julius Caesar – past the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill to Trajan’s Column
    • Stop along the way at Santi Cosma e Damiano for Midafternoon Prayer
  • Gather at Santa Maria in Domnica, a church in the neighborhood of the Colosseum dating back to the seventh century
    • 5:30pm: Evening Prayer
  • Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant
  • 9pm: Night Prayer in hotel chapel
  • Overnight in Rome

Paul Rose
Paul Rose is the lead voice and founder of Sing the Hours, a podcast which presents the chanted prayer of the Church: the Liturgy of the Hours.   Sing the Hours seeks to serve and glorify God with prayer, join Christians around the world together in prayer, and restore the tradition of chanting prayer.   Sing the Hours has posted sung Lauds and Vespers daily since its beginning in 2020, and hundreds of thousands of Christians around the world tune in every week. Paul is passionate about restoring the tradition of chanted prayer, and In 2023, the project expanded with the introduction of in-person retreats. Paul and his team are thrilled to continue to carry out the Church’s exhortation to pray the Hours in common with other faithful.   When not running Sing the Hours, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, catching baseball games, and traveling to Italy as frequently as possible!
Chaplain
Fr. Eric Cadin
Father Eric Cadin is a priest of the Archdiocese of Boston, who currently serves as Director of the Office of Vocations and Director of the Office of University Ministries. He was ordained in 2012, and first served as parochial vicar of St. Michael Parish in North Andover, Massachusetts. Fr. Cadin serves on the boards of Laboure College of Healthcare, Witness to Love, Collegia Catholic Boston, Catholic Institute of Technology, and St. Benedict’s Classical Academy, as well as providing spiritual care as the chaplain to the Boston chapter of Legatus. He received his B.A. from Harvard College, STL from Boston College, and MDiv from St. John’s Seminary. Before entering seminary, he spent a year living in a tent on the North Shore of Oahu to further his surfing passion. Co-founder of the Ivy League Surfing Championship he quickly recognized God’s capacity to unveil Himself in places and moments of awe and beauty. Fr. Eric is motivated in all his endeavors by Jesus’ promise to us in the 10th Chapter of John’s Gospel: “I came that they might have life and have it abundantly.”
Chaplain
Fr. Corwin Low
Fr. Corwin Low, O.P. is a Catholic Priest and evangelist to Big Tech companies in the United States. Before joining the Dominican Order he had his own business in the field of Computer Network Security, working with such companies as Microsoft, Boeing, the US Military, IBM, and others. Fr. Corwin was motivated to become Catholic back in 1999 where he encountered the Dominicans and the Benedictines and their chanting of the Divine Office (the Liturgy of the Hours).

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations of individual pilgrims must be made in writing (email or letter) to Verso Ministries. Individual pilgrims should cancel with their group leaders, who are then responsible for notifying Verso Ministries in writing (email or letter). Cancellations are possible at any time, but refunds are subject to cancellation fees at the rates listed here. Cancellation fees are for individual pilgrims. Any cancellation charges incurred from other suppliers or vendors (flight, lodging, ground transportation, tickets, etc.) may come in addition to the administrative fees listed here. All group flight airline tickets, optional excursions, trip options, pre/post extensions, private transfers, and additional hotel nights are non-refundable 100 days or less prior to departure unless otherwise noted. We highly recommend the purchase of individual travel insurance.

  • 14 days after deposit & 91 days or more from departure: Deposit is retained
  • 90-61 days prior to departure: 25% of trip cost is non-refundable
  • 60-31 days prior to departure: 50% of trip cost is non-refundable

Pilgrimages can fill up quickly, especially if pilgrims decide to bulk register as a group, so registering as soon as you think you will be able to travel with us guarantees you a spot on open pilgrimages. If you register and find out you can no longer attend, as long as you registered more than 180 days prior to the departure and cancel within 14-days of registering, we will fully refund your deposit.
